Size a hot-water desuperheater for any ammonia plant

Change the plant duty, shell size or tube layout and every result redraws: tube count, heat recovered, pressure drops, nozzle sizes and code checks. Defaults reproduce the reference unit HX-DSH-01 (8 in. shell × 1000 mm).

Method: Kern shell-side film coefficient with a bypass/leakage factor, Dittus–Boelter in tubes, ε-NTU rating for a 1-shell exchanger, LMTD-F sizing for the target outlet. NH₃ saturation pressure from the Antoine fit (239–371 K). Shell thickness per ASME VIII-1 UG-27 (outside-radius form). Results are design-basis estimates; finalise tubesheet, flange and nozzle reinforcement by code calculation before fabrication. Copper alloys are not permitted in ammonia service.
